Austin's Bear

These pictures are for you Grandma Pat! Remember this bear? I think it was the first little gift you gave us when we got pregnant last year. I took it off the shelf yesterday and Austin has been playing with it ever since. Austin says "Thank You"!

Drewry Family Vacation...

Last week the Drewry family all meet at Big Cedar Lodge at Table Rock Lake in Missouri. I would highly recommend this place, it is a beautiful setting right on the lake, and it isn't too far of a drive which makes it even more attractive! It was SO pretty, quiet and relaxing. We got a little more rest than usual (Austin doesn't allow us to much these days), but the best thing was getting to spend quality time with Austin and the rest of the family. It was nice to just get away from the every day life here and spend time as a family. I have pictures of Big Cedar Lodge but I took them with my film camera and have yet to scan them into the computer. So, those will have to come later!
Austin did pretty good on his first real vacation. He now HATES the car seat, so that is a bummer for us, but we made it and he survived. He rolled over for the first time on the trip and actually did it four times in a row. We were so surprized and didn't think it would happen any time soon, but I guess we were wrong! He rolled from stomach to back those four times, and then that night did the opposite and rolled from back to stomach. Guess we will have to watch him more closely now!
On Wednesday morning we visited Dogwood Canyon Nature Center . The fam all took a walk through the nature center during the morning, and then Nate and Dave went back that afternoon and ran the trails. The trail is about 6 miles total and runs down to the Arkansas border. Nate and Dave were proud to make it the whole way and took pictures by the sign "Welcome to Arkansas" to prove they went the distance. These are pictures we took along the trail, nothing too amazing, but it was great to be outdoors and be reminded of the beauty God created.

Scrapbooking...

I am proud to say I am officially caught up on scrapbooking! (Well, for Austin that is). Yesterday I layed out all of my supplies and worked on the pages during his nap times. It took me two days to finish only three pages and I would have to say it isn't my best work, but good enough for now. Too bad I just can't leave out the supplies all the time, I need a craft room! I was going crazy with the mess it made for only two days, so I had to quit just to clean it up!

My Cutie Pie!

Last night Nate gave Austin his bath and these are some pics we took after he was done with the bath. He was getting sleepy, as I am sure you can tell, but I thought it was still adorable.

Einstein Activity Center...

We finally pulled out the activity center and set it up last week. Austin is already enjoying it even though he isn't quite tall enough yet! As you can see we have to prop him up with some blankets but I am sure before we know it he will be in there with no help at all! Yesterday I finally put away his 0-3 month clothes, I was still hanging on to some of them...it seems like he has hardly worn most of them but the ones he was still wearing were a little highwater! So, we are on to 3-6ers. We love our little boy!

Dallas Trip...

Here are some pictures my dad took at our Dallas trip to visit my grandma. They were taken the first weekend in February...wow has it already been a month? He also took some good ones of Ethan and Simon but I will let Rachel share those. Austin has grown so much this month, tomorrow he will be three months old. I will download some more pics later to show you how big he has gotten.

Thumb Sucker?

Austin is trying so hard to suck that thumb! He hasn't yet discovered it, but I am pretty sure he will. He likes to suck really hard on his hand and seems to prefer it over the pacifier. UhOh...next stop the orthodontist!

Congrats to Sarah and Keith!

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day! Nate and I celebrated Valentines yesterday because he has to "work" tonight. He surprized me at lunch yesterday and brought this fruit basket bouquet home. It is soo yummy and a great alternative to those roses that always seem to die so soon. (Not that this will last that long either!) We went out on a date last night for the first time since Austin was born...wow has it really almost been three months without a date! Yikes. I probably wouldn't have left him this soon either (I must be one of those crazy moms that never leaves their child but its hard when you don't have family around!) but Nate called and made the babysitting arragements without me knowing. So anyways, we went out to dinner and ran some errands...and guess what...Austin did just fine! Hopefully we won't wait another three months to go out alone again. I hope you all have a wonderful day today!

The fruit basket is filled with dark chocolate covered apples, milk and white chocolate covered strawberries, grapes, pineapple, and cantelope...yum, I think I will go have some more now!

Baby News

We have some exciting news in Nate's family. Austin is going to have a new cousin! In case some of you guys don't read Anna's blog, she is PREGNANT! We are so thrilled for Anna and Caleb, and so happy that Austin and "baby Trent" will be so close in age to eachother. Anna is due at the end of August, and is having her fair share of "morning sickness" so pray for her! Congrats you guys!

My little trooper...

I shot this pic yesterday when I was loading him up to go shopping. He really does smile, I promise, but I can never seem to capture it without it being blurry! So, for now I will have to stick with posting the non-smiling pictures.

Dryer woes...

I feel like I am always doing laundry! I can't imagine what those of you guys who have a lot of kids feel like (but to my credit my husband does wear three outfits a day (work, work-out, and leisure) and never likes to re-wear something without it being washed. So...when I first had Austin I thought it would be easier to do a load of laundry every day, instead of doing it all in one day like I had previously done. Well, that didn't last long. I decided to take a break from laundry last week and go on strike, but obviously that didn't last forever either. So, we get back from Dallas on Sunday and Monday I decided to catch up, I did laundry all day, and I mean ALL day. When my last load was in the dryer, it suddenly decided to break and no longer works anymore. We can't really complain though, because we bought the dryer five years ago for $50. So, it pretty much cost us only $10 a year...I'd say that is pretty good! Anyways, I guess I will be on mandatory strike for a while, until we get around to buying a new one. Anyone know of any coupons for dryers? Haha.

January 28, 2007

Today Austin is officially two months old! We can't believe that we have had him for almost 9 weeks now, it has been an amazingly different time for us. He is growing well, over ten pounds now (I can't believe some babies are actually born that big!...yikes). He is getting more into the groove of sleeping at night and usually falls asleep at about midnight and will sleep for about 5 to 6 hours. I never would have thought I would be happy about getting 5 hours of straight sleep but I have learned to be more thankful for the small things! We have been blessed!

Michelle's wedding...

Here are pictures from Michelle's wedding last weekend. I didn't get any really good ones or even any of Scott, because pretty much I was feeding Austin in all my down time of the weekend. But, my dad will make a website for them one of these days and I will let you all know when he does. The wedding went really well, despite one of her 8 bridesmaids fainting. The rehearsal dinner and reception were both absolutely gorgeous, as I knew they would be. And now Michelle and Scott are in Antigua baking in the sun...man that must be nice! Enjoy!

Baby Wise...

Okay, so has anyone read the book "Baby Wise"? Nate and I have become desperate to get more sleep at night, well at any time actually. So, yesterday I went and bought the book Baby Wise. I have heard it is controversial, so I just wanted to know if it has worked for any of you or anyone you know? I am only about half way through the book and so far it hasn't really given any advice, it is just trying to convince me that this way is going to work. So...any thoughts or other books/advice anyone can give would be great.
